Mac OS X Panther: Install & set up

July 8, 2003

Install all your applications back on the Mac. Once your apps are back, nowyou should restore your data.

Copy portions of your Home directory to your new home directory in panther.

I'm going to describe it like this with Backup: <font size="1" face="Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">/Library/Application  Support/Addressbook/</font>

Meaning go to the backup directory in the home folder open Library, open Application  Support, and open Addressbook.
Copy the data too: Panther: <font size="1" face="Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">/Library/Application  Support/Addressbook/</font>

Meaning, copy the data within the Addressbook folder to the new location listed above on the new Panther hard drive. Replacing anything that's there in the first place.

So lets restore the following:

<strong>Addressbook:</strong><blockquote><p> Go to:
Backup: <font size="1" face="Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">/Library/Application  Support/Addressbook/</font>
Copy the contents to
Panther: <font size="1" face="Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">/Library/Application  Support/Addressbook/</font>
</blockquote>

<strong>Safari bookmarks:</strong>

<blockquote>Go to:
Backup: <font size="1" face="Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">/Library/Safari/</font>
Copy the contents to:
Panther: <font size="1" face="Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">/Library/Safari/ </font></blockquote>

<strong>iCal Calendars:</strong><blockquote>
Backup: <font size="1" face="Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">/Library/Calenda</font><font size="1" face="Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">rs/</font>

Copy the contents to:
Panther:<font size="1" face="Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"> /Library/Calendars/</font></blockquote>

<strong>Mail:</strong>
<blockquote>

Open Mail and and go to the File Menu and select Import mailboxes.<br>Under this window chose Mail for OS X and then follow the onscreen instructions.

The mail you want to import are in the backup copy of Library folder within your home directory. <br><br>Backup: <font size="1" face="Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">/Library/Mail/</font>

This will import all your messages. You will just need to then rearrange your settings and set up your accounts again. (There might be a quicker way of doing this, but I haven't test it yet.)
