Q: How do I sync my iPod with more than one computer? (One at home, and one at work?)
A: The quick and easy answer is You can not do this. Why? Well quite simply down to copyright issues. If you could sync up with different computers then you can easily transfer files from one person to another without a thought for copyright. Therefore, Apple has limited you to sync with only one computer because they don't want to annoy the record labels.
If you sync with your home computer and then go to work and sync with that, your iPod will delete all the songs you placed on it at home, and then place all the songs you have at work onto the iPod. If you have zero songs on your work computer, then your iPod will be empty.
This is also important to note. If you are going to wipe out your hard drive and put your songs on your iPod, when you come back to your computer you will not have any songs on it. If you plug in your iPod and tell it to sync up it will delete all your songs on your iPod and sync with nothing on the computer. All your songs will be gone. There is no going back at this point. Everything will be lost.

Q: My iPod skips with certain tracks like my purchased music. Is my iPod faulty?
A: Could be, or it might not be. You always want to make sure your iPod and iTunes are the latest versions. Apple makes software updates not only for iTunes but also for the iPods, fixing bugs and adding functionality to new features in the iTunes Music Store. If you have a Macintosh, your Software Update will see these and you can download and install them. If you are using a Windows machine you will have to do this manually.
Q: How many iPods can connect to iTunes?
A: As many as you want. I currently have 3 iPods connected to iTunes and each one works fine. You can even sync different music to different iPods.
Q: On our Mac, we have different user accounts for everyone in the family. We have all of our music in the iTunes library under one account. How can we access the library under any of the other accounts without iTunes copying the files (and eating up disk) into the local account's iTunes library?
A: It can be done using either of two methods.
iTunes Music Sharing via Bonjour
The first method is to use iTunes Sharing. Open the iTunes Preferences and go to the Sharing tab. You can turn on music sharing here either for the entire library or by specific playlists. You also have the ability to add a password to it if you wish. Click OKay, and now iTunes Music Sharing is active. You have to leave iTunes open in this user account for this to work.

When you log into another user, open iTunes and in the playlist area you'll see a new item appear with the name of your shared music. So for example, on my Mac it'll say Davinder's Music. Click on that and it'll take a few moments for it to load and then the entire shared music playlists will appear. You can now play the music.

This is a quick way of getting access to the music, however you will not be able to adjust any of the files, delete them or modify them in anyway. You will only be able to listen to them when iTunes is open in the main account.
If you have other computers on the network, they can also see this music library, so this is the easiest way to share your music over multiple computers. (Mac's or Windows, you just need iTunes.)
Using this method of Bonjour iTunes Music sharing you are only able to listen to the music. You can not burn CDs nor sync to iPods. If you want to do this, you'll have to set up a more permanent solution so that when you open iTunes and it will behave like normal. To do this you'll have to move the location of the iTunes Music Library.
Relocating your Music Library
Inside the Users folder, you'll see a folder named after each user on the computer plus an additional folder called "Shared". Anything in this folder can be seen from any user.
So the idea is to place all your music in the Shared Folder so that every user can get access to it.
Go to the Music Folder of your Home directory of the main account.
There will be a few files or folders such as
"iTunes Library" - this is a file that stores all the data about your library.
"iTunes Music Library .xml" - a file that contains the same information as the "iTunes Library"
"iTunes Music" - this is a folder that contains all your music.
These are the most important files.
1. Launch the iTunes Application.
2. Move the "iTunes Music" folder to the Shared Folder.
Because iTunes is open it recongizes automatically that you have moved the library and will continue to work perfectly.
You will notice the "iTunes Library" file is in the same location, and this is how it will stay.
You want to make a copy of this iTunes Library and place it in the same location in each user account on the Mac. You can make a copy by holding down the option key, click on the "iTunes Library" and drag the file over to the shared folder. You will notice when you do this the icon will change and a "+" icon will be over the icon too. Once it is in the shared folder, you can do the copy the file into each User on the Mac placing it in the same relative location, replacing the exisiting file.
Go through each user and open the iTunes preferences and click on the "Advanced" tab. You will have to point to the new location of iTunes Music in the shared folder.

Once you do this, everything should hopefully play. When a user adds music to their library it will be placed in the iTunes Music folder in the Shared folder. However, each music library will NOT be updated. To add this music, you'll have to go to the File menu and go to "Add to Library" for each user. A little annoying but it'll work.

Q: I have a library of mp3's I created using non-iTunes software. I would like to be able to reference this library from iTunes to update my iPod. How can I do that?
A: To put music onto your iPod you have to use iTunes. Therefore, you have to import your music into iTunes and then let iTunes manage them.
Simply go to the File menu and and select Import. Then navigate to your folder with your music and click Import. iTunes will copy your music into you it's library and you can then sync with your iPod.

Q: I have an mp3 player that is not an iPod. Can I still sync it with iTunes?
A: That depends on the mp3 player. iTunes does support several 3rd party mp3 players so as long as your mp3 player is one of those it will sync up.
Remember though, any tracks that are not an mp3, such as ones you've recently imported from a CD or bought from the iTunes music store will not play on standard mp3 players.

Latest iTunes and iPod information
It is always a good idea to have the latest versions of iTunes and iPod software updated.
iTunes
At this time of writing, iTunes 7.3 is the latest available version and can be downloaded here: iTunes
iPod
Apple now includes the updater as part of iTunes.
Hopefully this works. If not, check the iTunes/iPod discussion pages on the Apple support site. You can post a question there and you should hopefully get a good answer.
