A brilliant Mac OS X themed music video

I saw this today and had to post it as it's a brilliant piece of art.

See for yourself.

Nottingham Forest gets a promotion!

Having been born in Nottingham, my home football team is Nottingham Forest. For decades - before I was born and my time in Nottingham - they were one of the best teams in the country being managed by the legendary Brian Clough.

After leaving the UK, Nottingham Forest went a little down hill, and have been attempting over the years to get back up. Well, today, they did!

Congratulations to the team for being promoted to the Champions League! Next season they're only one step away from being in the Premere League again.

Forest, you've got a lot of work to do next season! But for now, go out and celebrate this brilliant occasion!

SciFi HD comes to Comcast

I've been busy over the past months, so busy in fact, that I haven't watched TV. That's why today when I was flipping through the HD channels on Comcast I nearly jumped out of my seat when I saw SciFiHD!

That's right, the SciFi channel are now broadcasting in HD! Channel 736

The first thing I did was check to see if Battlestar Galactica and Doctor Who are being broadcasted on Friday, and it is! :) This is the best news I've got all week! I can finally watch Battlestar Galactica in HD for the first run episode.

I'm so looking forward to Friday evening now. Don't get me wrong, I was looking forward to it anyway, but to watch both of these in full HD is going to be sweet!

8 Cores! That's the new Mac Pro!

One week before MacWorld Apple has released brand new Mac Pro's with 8 Core's standard! That's every Mac Pro having 8, that's 8 Cores!

These are definitely some nice power houses for high end video and graphics. I'd love one. These new Mac's can also power up to 8 30 inch displays! Can you imagine that.

There were also new XServes on the table too.

Also of cool note, the Mac Pros and Xserves now come with 4Gb Fibre Channel. That is sweet for all your high end video people out there!

5.6 Earthquake!

I've been living in the bay area for 14 years and have been through a lot of earthquakes before, but today, this was the longest and largest quake I've felt!

This quake was 5.6 on the richter scale and lasted around 12 seconds. It was a very long 10-12 seconds.

I was in the garage at the time taking a car battery out, when all of a sudden I hear this noise upstairs, and this rumbling noise. The ground started to shake, and the whole house was moving quite a lot. Then it stopped for a brief second. Then it continued going with a picked up pace. The scariest thing about it all is not knowing how long it was going to last and if it was going to get stronger. By far this was the largest quake I've felt.

For more specific information on the quake: http://quake.usgs.gov/recenteqs/Quakes/nc40204628.htm

UPDATE: The earthquake actually lasted about 30 seconds. You can read an article from the San Jose Mercury News, 5.6 quake hits Alum Rock.
