Space weather
This past weekend, after talking with guests at a wedding I attended, I discovered a new space web site called Space Weather.
This cool site gives the latest information in the Earth and Sun environment, giving weather reports from solar flares, and other events that can be seen in the night sky.
If you are into star gazing, and would like to know more about the skies we look at at night, check out this web site.
Some of the images are amazing. My only wish was that I lived in an area that had less light pollution.
Total Lunar Eclipse
I've been up for about an hour now and I'm currently starring out up at our moon. It's a full moon today, but now the moon has changed color in the night sky.
For the first time that I remember, we are having a full lunar eclipse with the best vantage point being west of the Rocky mountains in the United States.
I wanted to take a picture but I don't have the correct equipment to really take a good picture.
We have hit the full lunar eclipse at this point at 3:38 am. The moon hasn't left completely, but is a bright red disc. It's the moon, but reddish. It's only what I can imagine Mars would look like if it were closer to us.
It is a really nice sight. I only wish I could capture it on film. Maybe another time.
